My Top 5 Original Netflix Dramas

If you want to watch a drama with high quality of acting and writing, Netflix is the best option for you. I have watched almost every single one of their original shows and I have no regrets. No other streaming service or network offers such high quality of dramas and comedies.

  1. Orange is the New Black

I believe, that Orange is the New Black was the first Netflix show for many of us, me including. On the other hand, I don’t think it was the last one for anyone. This show started my love for Netflix and there is no doubt, that I am not the only one. Only a few shows can offer such a stellar combination of drama and comedy. One moment you are laughing at one of the amazing jokes and suddenly you want to cry when you see a sad backstory of one of our beloved inmates. Actors and characters, which they are portraying, play a huge part of this show’s success. There is a character for anyone, whether it is Piper, Alex, Morello, Nicky, Red or others. Thankfully to Netflix’s generosity, Orange will keep us entertained for a couple more years.

  1. Marvel’s Daredevil

Netflix brought a superhero show to a whole new level. A popularity of shows based on comic book has been increasing rapidly during the last few years, but none of them felt like a 13-hours long movie. But once you start watching Daredevil, you simply can’t stop. And since Netflix always releases every episode at once, you don’t have to. You can enjoy this adventure and heroic story all at once. Season 1 has been already brilliant, but Season 2 was even better. My favorite part about this show is Karen. She is such a unique character. Without superpowers, without fighting skills, she proves that you can still become a hero for others. And hopefully she becomes the glue that will bring the team back together. Hopefully we will be introduced to another amazing characters in Season 3.

  1. Narcos

When this show got released, I had absolutely no interest in watching. But, then I started to read all the amazing comments and reviews and I couldn’t resist any longer. And that was a very wise decision, because Narcos is one of the best-written, best-acted show of all times. The story of Pablo Escobar is being portrayed in a very unique way, with amazing scenes from actual history. Introduction of this story about the power of drugs is amazing for the viewers, but on the other side really sad, when we realize that it is actually a true story. Another highlight is the combination of English and Spanish. I am studying both of these languages, so it is really great to watch a show that uses so much Spanish. Season 2 starts in 2 months, so if you haven’t watched Season 1 yet, it is the best time to start now. Believe me, you won’t regret it.

  1. Marvel’s Jessica Jones

As much as I love Daredevil, Jessica Jones is even better in every aspect. Jessica Jones offers everything, just as Daredevil. But it has one huge advantage – Krysten Ritter. She deserves every award she can get and I really hope, that she won’t be ignored by The Emmys. The darkness of this show is absolutely stunning and it keeps you on the edge for 13 whole hours. This shows completely ignores the latest trend of redemption of all the villains. Our villain, Kilgrave, wants what he wants and he is not afraid to do anything to get it. The battle between Jessica and Kilgrave is very captivating and you will want to see more. Simply a perfect show to binge-watch. There is only one negative aspect I can think of – the very long wait for Season 2.

  1. Sense8

If anybody asked me, what was the most unique and special show I have ever watched, there would be only one right answer – Sense8. During this astonishing 13-hours long experience, you will go through so many emotions. “Impossibility is a kiss away from reality.” – one of my favorite quotes, because with Sense8, you never know what is real and what isn’t. In Sense8, such a word as impossibility doesn’t exist. During the first few episodes, we get to meet all the characters and their stories. But as the story goes on, their stories will start to interact more and more. Thanks to these interactions we get to see many amazing scenes, for example, all of our sensies singing What’s Going On, amazing talk between Lito and Nomi, incredible fighting scenes with Capheus and Sun or even a very unexpected orgy scene. It is simply incredible, that every scene feels so real, that you feel every single emotion. Such progressive show deserves much more recognition. I feel like it is very underrated among other shows on Netflix and it really breaks my heart, because every single person should watch this show and feel all these amazing emotions.

“Look, love is not something we wind up, something we set or control. Love is just like art: a force that comes into our lives without any rules, expectations or limitations. Love like art, must always be free.”
